Well, I live near Fitchburg and this bank has my mortgage. It is very disappointing to read this about it and I think it is scandalous that a bank president's brother is (allegedly) a con man.

It's impossible to gauge the Red Sox for next season based on articles like this. The only thing that's certain is they won't win the World Series next year because to go from last to first to last to more »

Matthew--how you can start any discussion about FX without including "Sons of Anarchy" is beyond me. It's FX's most popular show, and a damn good one, despite the lack of Emmy love. Does Kurt Sutter a more »

Shows you what a charmed life the Sox led last year. Everything had to go right for them to win it all, and this year everything is going wrong. That's baseball. It tends to even out over time... more »

Dude, you've fallen into the "man trap"--assuming that every woman who smiles at you or is nice is "flirtatious". You don't say where you work or how old you are, but I'm guessing...an educational ins more »

The last line of this piece ("no bad finale should undermine memories of the many good episodes that came before it") certainly doesn't apply to "Lost". And Matthew Gilbert said so at the time. So I'm more »

Let me say that I'm really pleased to see you writing about TV again, Matthew Gilbert. You're really good at it and sometimes remind of the "glory days" of Ed Seigel (always worth reading if you were more »

As I read Jerry's comments, hear his defensive tone and rationalizations, all I can think of is this recent profile of Adam Lanza's father in the New Yorker: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2014/03 more »

It is amazing how the knives comes out for a 61-year-old man who suffers from cancer and depression. Basically, there's no good outcome here. How do they talk about the WS run last year without refere more »

Alas, Jerry's return seems more like an act of hubris than courage. Or he's still in shock, which is a distinct possibility. Or he's a sociopath, like his son (allegedly).

This is a somewhat unique situation compared to the others he referenced, and it's clear from his comments that he's still not thinking clearly. I suspect this will not end well and he will be off the more »

It's quite clear if you watch the full conversation between Maher and Weiner that Maher is playing "bad cop" to Weiner's "good cop" on this topic. He's obviously trying to help Weiner get an MSNBC gig more »
