Whether it can or should be used as a verb I can't say, but sports writers have used it as such for many, many years.

Great article. Sort of glad/sad that my alma mater (WNEC/WNEU) was the only potential blemish on the Engineers' schedule. I hope MIT goes far in this thing.

I don't dismiss the main tenet of you argument. Would I have preferred more years for Lester and less for Pedroia? Yep. But I guess I am an eternal optimist (why, I have no idea at this point), but th more »

Pete, I think you could have come up with a more apt modifier for Pedey's behavior than "reckless." That word carries a pejorative connotation. It suggests he gives no regard to the consequences, espe more »

New York sports writer made same point about 2 weeks ago. Maybe Pete should have noted that in his post. No doubt he read it...Show some class yourself and don't act as if you came up with this one on more »

Is that OPS really his OPS or just his slugging percentage? Can't see a guy with 17 HRs having an OPS in the 400s. Hope it was a typo. But otherwise a decent return if Sox really weren't going to sign more »

A great article, aside from the cynicism/pessimism, the pretty much racist epithet thrown Papi's way and the unnecessary swipe at AJP. Guess you probably don't want to be labeled a "homer."

Is anyone out there confused as to how this story was actually "broken" by a reporter for the NY Post? Not just because it's in NY, but that is one dirt-rag of a newspaper/tabloid.

It was a federal plea. The state has nothing to do with it. Not sure which "this" you refer to as it was adjudicated in the Southern District of NY.
