Most relievers want to be starters. They have a regular scedule and make 3-4 times as much money. I like Tazawa and a lot of aspects of his game but there is a reason why they moved him to the pen. Th more »

Tazawa was a starter earlier in his career and had mediocre potential. He may be better than Ranaudo and Workman but probably not as good as Owens, Rodriguesz and I would add Johnson and Barnes potent more »

I think one could make a pretty strong case for Miller at $ 8 mil a year and 4 years. He was lights out for a long time there and has been real good for 2 years now. I would have a little problem with more »

In response to hill55's comment: The Steamer600 WAR projections, which assume each player gets 600 plate appearances in 2015, have Mookie Betts at 4.0, Yoenis Cespedes at 3.1, Shane Victorino 2.2, Dan more »

1 or 2 of these guys has a shot at a rotation spot with the Sox but the Redsox are probably going to use their money and sign 2 proven starters. The situation is not as bleak as it appears. And we hav more »

People are saying Sandoval might get 5 years and $100 mil. I wonder who would be the better value for us long term. Sandoval or Cespedes.

So far over 3 years in mlb, Cespedes has had a fangraphs valuation of $14.27 per year. In the prime years of his career. 14.27 x 4 years = $57.08 mil. I'm offering $64 mil. I grant that it could well more »

I see a whole lot of people say Cespedes is essentially not that good but we did slot him #4 in the lineup. I think he's worth $16 mil a year. Probably even $17 mil or more to some team but to me I'd more »

We can't trade Victorino or Craig for anything except a salary dump, unless we pay almost all their salary anyway. So there you have that. Neither of those guys are going anywhere. So that is 2 slots more »

Man, if Jidge is beating that dead horse with me I must be on to something! As I've said over and over and over, I DON'T THINK THE SOX GO WITH BETTS AT THIRD. I do think they have him slotted with Cas more »

I really think Mookie could do it if needed. Or Cechinni. I'd rather build value from within in 2015, and continue to develop our core.

As I've said several times now, I do agree that the Sox are probably going with an external solution at 3rd but when I read Farrel's comments I see a guy taking about this year for sure, and maybe bey more »

It sure is tempting to slot Sandoval in at 3rd and bat him 6th or so, helping the lineup score runs a lot. Giving some semblance of Left/Right balence in the lineup. ┬áBut he may well cost over 5 years more »

I want more trades like Erod. Give up talent we can't use for whatever reason, for real premium talent which might well emerge as difference makers for us someday. And I'd rather have one premium guy, more »
