Comment on: Celtics sign Jarvis Varnado -Celtics blog - Boston Globe basketball news

Why sign someone who is 6"9 (with shoes) when the need is for a center? His college stats are of little consequence. He didn't even make the Heat's regular roster. Didn't former Celtics draftee JaJuan more »

Johnson's actual height is about 6 feet 9. He is also reed thin in the mold of Tayshaun Prince. He can't play center. Celtics need to recruit a legitimate center so KG can play his normal position at more »

Tayshaun Prince of the Pistons is listed at 6"9 and 215 pounds, and he's had quite a successful NBA career. Even KG was reed thin when he entered the NBA. I don't think lack of weight will be a major more »

Nothing that we say now will change the situation. The trade has been made and we'll just have to live with it as Celtic fans. Credit Danny Ainge at least for having the guts to make this controversia more »

Definitely, this is a big win for the Celtics. The area of concern though is Doc Rivers's inability so far to reduce the playing minutes of Garnet, Pierce and Allen. They won't last through the season more »

The most effective way for Erden to learn the team's system is by getting playing time. Doc Rivers should already plan for this as they will need Erden in the playoffs. This early in the season, Shaq more »

Talent-wise, West will be a good fit for the Celtics. His services may also come at an affordable price due to his health condition(bi-polar) and current legal entanglement. This is presuming West can more »
