Yes, an experiment going on since the 1870s.
Comment on: Will Millennials ever move out?
Posted 07/26/2013 08:12:12 EDT
My parents bought a new 3 bedroom home on a half acre on 128, not in a W town in 1975 in today's inflation adjusted dollars for $220,000.
Next question please on why millenials are not buying.

Oops, buy a house in Galt's gulch if I can find it.

I'm going John Galt. Maybe to Texas.

Unfortunate but I'll just wait. My rent won't be going up but I would eat a potential increase of $1-2000 rather than get desperate and make a dumb decision that could cost me huge money down the road more »

I don't think incomes are keeping up in the entry level market prices. Baby boomers are hunkering down and working longer because of the recesssion and many younger folks have student loan debt that i more »

Better plan: contact owner directly to avoid the rental "realtors" in town and perhaps realtor fee. Heck, offer the realtor finders fee as an additonal security deposit to allay any additional screeni more »

Perhaps but look at UMass' records since 1996. Kellogg is as good as any and they are on their way up.

Ah yes, the good old days of a 91% top tax rate. If we could only go back in time...

Great article...thank you. Unfortunately 75% of the boomers I know can't figure out why the younger generation has/wants to do this. The in-laws house on 128 was $215,000 brand new with .5 acre when t more »

Supply and demand my friend. Believe or not, economic activity drives demand for oil. More demand for oil drives prices.

We tested the waters last spring but not a lot of luck. One interesting observation is all of our millenial friends who bought within 3-5 years (with the 2009? tax credit are already looking to upgrad more »

I'll add the best advice I got recently was: "the national economy has nothing to do with your personal economic situation."

But it's a once in a lifetime opportunity!
The mortgage deduction!
Homeownership makes you happier!
You are throwing money away renting!

Comment on: UMass football plagued by attendance problem - Football - Boston.com

All indications that football will be moving back to Amherst once stadium upgrades are made. UMass would not have been invited to the MAC unless they played at Gillette.
Posted 12/12/2012 01:51:44 EST
"morbidly bad playing other morbidly bad MAC teams."
Northern Illinios is playing in a BCS bowl and Kent State would have been if not NUI.
Ohio was ranked when UMass played them.

UMass is doing $1 billion plus in construction and we get these fluff pieces about BC.

They don't pay to play at Foxboro. Please read the previous articles.

Repeat: the MAC required UMass play at Gillette.

UMass would be in the Big 10 right now with a self-sufficient athletic program that provides funds to the rest of the university if it upgraded to FBS football in the 70s. Now the Globe et al.'s attit more »

EVERY flagship state university in the US ranked higher than UMass besides Delaware and Vermont play FBS football.

UConn averaged 15,000 attendence in their first year in FBS. Not exactly head and shoulders above UMass' number. Glob has written articles that UMass should be more like UConn; well here you go Could more »
