All the haters manage to find reason to complain about everything. I recommend they move next to a coal-powered plant and breath in deep. Or better yet..... just continue to stick your head in the more »

Comment on: Time for Red Sox to get serious with Jon Lester - Sports - The Boston Globe
Posted 04/14/2014 02:48:16 EDT
Agree with you Pete. Just sign him to 5-year, $110 mil deal and be done. If he demands a 6th year or more, and wants to make $25 mil-a-year, good luck to him. 5/$110 is a reasonable compromise for more »
Comment on: Plenty of issues for the defending champions - Sports - The Boston Globe

Johnny, relax. Yes, they need to start playing better. But it is April 14. No doubt they need to get it in gear and hopefully soon. In 2011, the Sox started 11-15 in April but were very hot from M more »

I think it's premature to be hitting the panic button. They are certainly lacking something that they had last year, no question about it. And one of those things is getting clutch hits and hitting more »
Comment on: Doing the math on Red Soxâ poor start - Sports - The Boston Globe

No Pete. It's OVAHHH!!!!!!!! Wait 'til next year! We should everyone's heads on a platter!
Okay. Maybe not. You're right. Let's hope they start playing a little better. 152 games left to go.
Comment on: Stephen Colbert a wise choice to succeed David Letterman - Arts - The Boston Globe
Posted 04/11/2014 11:58:01 EDT
History, no one thinks watching Colbert or Stewart is watching real news. What's sad is that cave-dwellers like you think watching Fox IS watching the news.
Posted 04/11/2014 11:52:18 EDT
I like Jimmy Fallon as a late-night host and it's possible you're right. But I think Colbert is very funny, clever and witty. Him out of character may be weird at first, but I think he'll thrive. A more »

History: O'Reilly is popular among the cave-dwellers like yourself who watch. Good for him. No one cares how much money he makes except him and, apparently, you. No one cares that you're not going more »
Comment on: Ask Nick: Whatâs the plan in the outfield? - Sports - The Boston Globe
Posted 04/11/2014 05:35:18 EDT
Th Sox don't "need" Drew, Nick. We have a 21-year-old SS who is a much better hitter, though his defense is certainly worse. But he comes a heck of a lot cheaper. Why not state what is obvious? Dr more »
Comment on: Jackie Bradley Jr. finding comfort level at plate - Sports - The Boston Globe
Posted 04/09/2014 01:55:32 EDT
If he continues to play well, why not have Victorino or Sizemore move to LF when Victorino returns? The Gomes/Nava platoon is fine, but we could then deal Carp and have Nava be the occasional 1B when more »
Comment on: Red Sox sign utilityman Ryan Roberts - Sports - The Boston Globe
Posted 04/09/2014 05:34:17 EDT
Nick, we know you love Stephen Drew. But Xander is our SS of the present and future. Deal with it.
Comment on: Jackie Bradley Jr. getting to know right field at Fenway - Sports - The Boston Globe
Posted 04/08/2014 01:49:17 EDT
Bradley has been consistently good in the minors. If he gets some steady playing time in the majors, I'm confident he's going to be good.
Posted 04/08/2014 01:48:21 EDT
Well, it's not like Lester has been bad -- he just hasn't been given any run support, much like Lackey didn't last year. It's great to see a strong Lackey, though.
Comment on: - Business - The Boston Globe

Note: Ms. Tiemey is a paid lobbyist for the major power generators of the state (aka natural gas). Her views should be understood in that context.
Comment on: Baseball teams often forced into save mode by closer injuries - Sports - The Boston Globe
Posted 04/08/2014 05:25:35 EDT
Agreed re: Boras. Last I checked, Stephen Drew is no longer on the Red Sox, and he seems to get more ink than our current SS. BTW, isn't Boegarts a Boras client as well, or am I mistaken?
Comment on: After refusing to divest from fossil fuels, Harvard takes new steps to promote the environment - Metro - The Boston Globe

$32 billion in endowment and Harvard is tossing a measly $1 million toward climate research grants. Do they expect applause?
Comment on: Legislation would increase âcleanâ energy requirements for utilities - Business - The Boston Globe

Comment on: Yuenglingâs impact being felt in Mass. - Business - The Boston Globe

Meh. Why bars would boot a good craft beer to stick Yuengling in the mix is incomprehensible. Maybe they could replace Bud or Coors with Yuengling? That might make more sense. I've had many Yueng more »
Comment on: In opener, Red Sox were lacking championship intangibles - Sports - The Boston Globe

Comment on: Xander Bogaerts looks terrific, but ... - Sports - The Boston Globe

Comment on: No reason for Jerry Remy to lose his job - Sports - The Boston Globe
Posted 03/28/2014 11:10:26 EDT
One thing about the folks saying that there are suitable replacements for Remy: I agree that Eck is excellent and would be great. But I gotta say that I was not impressed with Derek Lowe last year. more »
