Still wish Rice would have run instead of putting on the Cadillac trot in inning 1, Game 6 1986 WS -- he could and should have scored from 1st on Evans' double.

Cespedes-Castillo-Stanton OF does not happen. It's Cespedes-Castillo-Betts? or Cespedes and Castillo get put into the package for Stanton.

He needs to spend the winter being tutored by someone like Wade Boggs, or Rod Carew, or even Matt Stairs.

Well if there's one team that could bring him back it would be the Oakland Red Sox, I mean A's.

The fact is he had the yips off and on at UNC. The Red Sox, BV, LL, Ben Cherington ... none of them had anything to do with causing Bard's contol problems which started long before he ever wore a Red more »

Until he got hurt, RK was always projected ahead of guys like Moss, Reddick, Nava, etc. Great to see him making the Cubs, I guess the Red Sox figured they had Brentz and JBjr so RK was expendable, too more »

With Sizemore and Vasquez looking good, have to think a package of Lavarnway and Carp are headed somewhere like Pittsburgh, Arizona or Chicago (WS).

Best thing for him is to spend a few years living paycheck to paycheck and looking up at cops level of pay.

Yeah less is more except for the ADHD generation which doesn't seem to be able to tolerate a split second of silence. Shame on Tom Werner for being the creative idea behind this moronic impulse and fo more »

This all started with idiotic baseball movies in the 70's and some clueless film directors who thought it would improve the movie somehow to have the stadium PA announcer be the radio play-by-play ann more »

Maybe Brentz has a legitimate shot at the big club.

Let's not overlook .737 WHIP in 2000, the lowest in history.

Levine of course is the classy Yankee exec who was heard calling Sox players "1918 pieces of ...." as they got on the bus after Game 7 2003 ALCS.

Clinton gave this country its biggest ever budget surplus, kept us out of stupid phony foreign wars, detected and prevented terrorist attacks on US soil, put hundreds of thousands more cops on the job more »

World Champs or not, BC has not done his job this winter if he hasn't totally hounded Larry Beinfest regarding Giancarlo Stanton. Build a package around Middlebrooks and JBjr and get it done.
Posted 02/10/2014 12:08:44 EST
What to expect? Same as we got from another Sizemore in 79-80. Not much. We still haven't replaced Jacoby Ellsbury's offense.
Posted 02/03/2014 05:41:35 EST
What I've seen of Alex Hassan at AA and AAA I've liked a lot -- nice level R-hand swing, decent OF defense. If JBJr falters, Hassan could pass him by.
Posted 02/02/2014 12:07:44 EST
He's struggled with the yips since UNC -- it has nothing to do with starting vs. relieving or anything he or the Red Sox decided to try in 2012 or any other time.
Posted 02/02/2014 11:56:54 EST
Mackey Sasser, Dale Murphy, Steve Blass ....
Posted 01/08/2014 05:29:41 EST
Let Larry Beinfest pick any 5 in exchange for Stanton.
Posted 12/04/2013 09:40:42 EST
Wonder if Lorenzo Cain could be pried away from the Royals ... Rajai is not a bad option either. JBJ still has a lot to prove to be given the CF job.
Posted 11/29/2013 06:46:09 EST
Definitely saw that today .... Owens and Bogaerts are the only names off limits when it comes to Giancarlo.
Posted 11/08/2013 09:47:19 EST
Mike Cameron was also a player the Red Sox had coveted for a long time. Similarities don't end there.

Pete somehow you always manage to get inside underneath and behind the game and the team better than pretty much anybody else. I'd be boasting too if I made those predictions! Great season, and follow more »

Of the 3, 2004, 2007 and 2013, this team ranks as the toughest and grittiest. It was a great season for come-from-behind victories (August 1 was ridiculous, also taking 3 of 4 in Yankee Stadium in ear more »
