Put in an interim manager, change the stodgy unimaginative entitled atmosphere. And I like a lot of the moves Moon suggests with players, particularly the outfield.

By August 1st I hope, start getting adjusted for next season.

Wait on that, catchers get hurt a lot. Look at Vaz, already. Besides, how can anyone entertain trading Blake Swihart: he's from New Mexico yo

Neither player will ever again amount to a hill of beans. So many of these players, fat contracts, raking in the dough, and they're useless.

Why does it depress me that Miley is our guy coming out of the break? Well, who knows, maybe he'll have one of his better showings and we'll hit too. Go Sox.

Porcello has been a major-league bust. Most on the board drank the kool-aid on this guy--a sure #2 possibly an ace--was the hype here and in the Boston media. Most were wrong, and applauding the FO on more »

Personally, I wish they'd play him full-time in Boston.

I loved having CC sign with us, I thought he'd continue doing what he had done with the Rays. Boy, was I ever wrong! lol

An incomplete sounds fair for Castillo, same for Bradley who wasn't here long but looked good when he was, got to get a real chance to play consistently to get graded; E-Rod deserves a B+ or A-.
Posted 07/15/2015 07:37:31 EDT
Dan Haren can help some team, looked good against us recently, nice numbers overall (1.07 WHIP).
Posted 07/15/2015 07:18:27 EDT
Okay SP, B- is the best I can do Anyway, he's been hurt half the season, how high a grade can a guy get who hasn't been on the field very much?

Farrell is the classic unimaginative Oklahoma State Cowboy. I know a little about it, taught at the school a while. Give him a front office sinecure, you know, something to get him out of the dugout.

Yeah! And right on the mark on the Globe site, not worth the bother! Bummer. . .

Hey, this Melancon thread is really a Carl Crawford thread! But yeah, let's hope Porcello pulls a Melancon and makes a 180.

B+ for Hanigan, Moon? No way.
Posted 07/14/2015 06:50:07 EDT
Swihart C+ (and rising). Improve the team by getting him back there as catcher, at least he's got a bat. Miley with his 4.80 ERA and 1.43 WHIP gets a C- from me. Why the Castillo hate? He had a big ha more »

They can't get ready soon enough. Do we ever need a couple excellent pitchers to emerge over the few years.

Wright would be useful in the pen in a game like last night, long relief. Can't we get rid of Barnes and Masterson (why is he even on the team?). I'd rather have Kelly in the pen than Barnes. Yes, ple more »

Don't look now, but I think de Aza is turning back into de Aza.

Napoli Ortiz and Holt combinations, forget Shaw. Still think Napoli could turn it around, play him against lefties and see if he can get going. He has a history of late season hot streaks including pl more »

Adds up to 5 1/2 now. At the break it'll be either 2 1/2, 4 1/2, 6 1/2 or 8 1/2. Big games for us! Need 2 of 3 at worst.
Posted 07/07/2015 11:10:37 EDT
He's a lousy manager, but they're winning so let's keep him until they lose 10 of 11 again. :)
Posted 07/05/2015 08:15:35 EDT
The Red Sox lucked out and didn't have to face the Astros ace Keuchel 10-3 and his 2.00 ERA 0.96 WHIP and 100+Ks, and George Springer just went on the DL with an injury, so he wasn't there either.

Slim to none. Many teams in front of us, and we're not exactly breathing down their necks. We're hitting better, Betts and Bogaerts show big improvement, but the pitching, apart from Buchholz and some more »
