Devers and Margot alone make the lower minors solid ( Margot just made it to high A ). Our top 2 international signings were Dominican pitchers and our pitching in the DSL was already real solid witho more »

The last thing I want to see us do is trade a Betts, Swihart, Owens type package for 2 years of control of Stanton. And people are saying even that wouldn't get it done. If I were Loria though, I'd tr more »

The guys in the low minors have really been outstanding, helping the overall farme after some difficulties down there last year.

I like Lackey a lot also but both the guys we got could end up as steals for this team and situation.

I think we are going to play decent ball the remainder of this year which is to a degree unfortunate but I'd rather see positive developments now. It will be interesting what they do with all that ava more »

We got a definite pick as compared to a probable pick. I know it's a lower pick but it's $800,000 of spending money plus the pick. That is another Mookie Betts level bonus. And it's definite. Lester c more »

To me the big questions are 3rd, CF and starting pitcher, and we have at least some decent options in each slot. I at first thought Betts didn't have the arm for 3rd but after seeing him in person sev more »

Butler is a nice story but no way he is on the 25 man for anything more than short term injury back up and I doubt even that. I see that it is near universal that Lavarnway is not in the plans but to more »

I think Almanzar might be in the rule 5 picture next time.

I wish I had time to even remotely approach the level of detail the Moonster has given above. Sometimes I think we should put him on salary guys as he puts in the work without punching the clock! Some more »

The Craig and Cespedes deals are quintessential Cherington deals. Value picks. He looked at the landscape for acquiring RH pop and he got some, cheap.  I get Moon's idea of trading some of the depth t more »

What do you guys think of just slotting Mookie at 3rd? I get trying to restore Middlebrook's value but Mookie is a better bet to me going forward. So far his UZR/150 is over -35 in CF but it is an ext more »

If you look closely at our top starting pitching talent we have a ton of guys with #3 potential. Buchholz, Kelly, Webster, RDLR, Owens, Johnson, Barnes, Ranaudo, Workman...etc and they have said they more »

Considering how bad the OF has been so far this year, particularly in terms of power numbers, they really had to do something and next winters' FA crop is pretty bad for outfield talent if I remember more »

No doubt Cespedes is gone within a year and a half unless we extend him. But he might really like the friendly confines of Fenway and we might be willing to invest in him long term. He's 4 years young more »

I have no problem just slotting Mookie somewhere and leaving him there to see what he can do but if we do, we blow a year of control. Even though I think he's ready, I'd still put him in AAA and expos more »

With a little luck at least 2 of these starter prospects are in the rotation next year. De Larosa and Workman or Ranaudo. It does help tremendously to get top young pitching that way, and to a large e more »

I hate to just toss Middlebrooks on the scrap heap but this is his last chance probably, if he even gets a strong look at all. A strong case could be made to groom Mookie as a 3rd baseman in AAA right more »

Craig's BAPIP is like 70-80 points less than the previous 3 years in a row. I think he pulls out of it. It's like Napoli's .220 year in Texas and Victorino's .255 in 2012. Plus Fenway should help him more »
