    I think Swihart can be a league average catcher right now but I'd keep him in the minors at the very least to hold onto an extra year of control and he could benefit from developmental work in AAA. So more »

    Vasquez being an open issue right now is one of those lingering problems which could blow up on us and then what do we do when our whole run prevention plan seems to be predicated on Vasquez playing. more »

    Before Victorino's 2013 he hit like .255 the year before didn't he (in 2012). He was not a slam dunk anyway even given his 2013 performance. Average his 2012, 2013 and 2014 and you've got a sub .750 O more »

    If anything, it should be incumbent upon Victorino to prove he can play well coming off an injury and a run of health issues like that. No player should be guaranteed PT just because they are a vetera more »

    All this stuff is an educated guess and sometimes we are right and sometimes we are wrong. I advocated not counting on Papi after his big slump a couple years ago. I've been wrong on quite a few thing more »

    The point was that it was not likely for Victorino to suddenly be reliable when he wasn't reliable last year and missed a lot of games the year before and was just coming off major back surgery. Look more »

    I think Nava or Cechinni would be good trade prospects to fill in for SF's outfield needs short term and they could go into sub mode after they get healthy in 2-3 months.
