Another day, another celebrity apologizing for saying something extremely offensive.
Jonah Hill caught some flack over the weekend for using a homophobic slur that starts with an “f’’ against a paparazzo who was following him down a Los Angeles street.
During a Tuesday interview on “The Howard Stern Show,’’ Hill claimed he snapped at the photographer because he was making hurtful remarks against Hill’s loved ones and apologized for the situation, which he called “disgusting.’’
“I played into what he wanted and lost my cool,’’ Hill said. “In that moment, I said a disgusting word that does not at all reflect how I feel about any group of people.’’
Hill went on to say that he is a staunch “gay rights activist’’ and “grew up with gay family members,’’ however, the Hollywood star doesn’t believe he should be exempt from criticism over what he said.
“I’m not at all defending my choice of words,’’ Hill told Stern. “But I am happy to be the poster boy for thinking about what you say.’’

Following his appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,’’ Hill was a guest on Tuesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show’’ and once again addressed this past weekend’s controversy.
“How you mean things doesn’t matter,’’ Hill told host Jimmy Fallon. “Words have weight and meaning, and the word I chose was grotesque and, you know, no one deserves to say or hear words like that. I’ve been a supporter of the LGBTQ community my entire life, and I completely let the members of that community and everybody else down when I used a word like that this weekend.’’
Hill went on to say that he was heart broken over the situation and doesn’t expect to be forgiven for it. However, he hopes that young people can learn a lesson from his actions.
“What I ask is that, at home, if you’re watching this and you’re a young person especially, if someone says something that hurts you or angers you, use me as an example of what not to do,’’ Hill said. “Don’t respond with hatred or anger, because you’re just adding more ugliness to the world and, again, I just, I’m so sorry.’’
