Robin Williams Found Dead in California Home

Robin Williams, legendary comedian and actor, was found dead in his California home late Monday morning. The Marin County Coroner released a statement on Monday confirming that Williams, 63, was found unresponsive in his home.

“At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted,’’ according to the Coroner’s Division statement.

Williams’ press representative Mara Buxbaum issued a statement on behalf of Williams’ family, saying the actor had been “battling severe depression.’’

Williams’ wife, Susan Schneider, released a statement as well, saying she was “utterly heartbroken’’ by his passing, and that she hoped people would focus “on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.’’
