Thor won’t be the only superhero to welcome a female character to his world in the near future.

If Deadline has it right, Spider-Man’s big-screen universe will soon be the home of a yet-to-be-disclosed female character, which executives at Sony have been scoping out for an upcoming film.

There aren’t a lot of details about the possible 2017 production (yet), but Variety does cite that the movie’s script will be penned by Lisa Joy and it will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tomlach.

Arad and Tomlach will also produce “Sinister Six,’’ Drew Goddard’s recently revealed 2016 film, which focuses on six supervillains from Spider-Man’s universe combining forces under Dr. Octopus’s summon.

Could the female character be Black Cat? Silver Sable? What about Stunner, Spider-Woman, or Firestar? The list goes on and on.

The latest in the Spider-Man franchise, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2’’ starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, comes out on DVD Aug. 19.
