What would you do if you were a former record store manager who was reminiscing over some old videos and realized that almost two decades ago a then-unknown Kanye West was in your old store, freestyling?

It happened to DJ Eclipse, the former general manager of Fat Beats (a New York City shop that closed in 2010), who decided to share video evidence of Yeezy’s 1996 visit on YouTube, saying: “I’ve had this person as a guest on my radio show years later, but it’s pretty crazy to see this footage in ‘96 and think ‘damn, this dude was in my house then?’ and not even know.’’

Sporting what looks like a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt and a mustache, West, originally from Chicago, raps for nearly two minutes in the video, spitting lines like “On it forever like Luther, but it ain’t original cuz I stole it from the future, now I’m wanted in three centuries.’’

DJ Eclipse also notes that hip-hop heads like Xzibit were present the day of Ye’s visit almost 20 years ago.

Now, a 37-year-old superstar, West has racked up a slew of Grammys, including Best Rap Album in 2011 (“My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy), in 2007 (“Graduation), and in 2005 (“Late Registration’’).
