Two Marathon Finish Line Proposals

–Chelsea Rice/ staff

Gregory Picklesimer of Newton accomplished two huge life achievements today: he finished the Boston Marathon then immediately proposed to his girlfriend Carla — and she said “Yes.’’ Just after crossing the finish line, Picklesimer dropped to one knee and as bystanders watched (and apparently Tweeted away), asked for Carla’s hand in marriage. He told WBZ, “After last year I realized the people you love can be taken away from you.’’

Earlier, a six-time Marathon runner also proposed to his girlfriend after a memorable walk down Boylston Street. He was injuried this season and couldn’t run the race as planned, however, he decided to keep the reservations to surprise his to-be fiancé Mary in what he deemed “the greatest city in America.’’ “I wanted to propose to her on the finish line of the greatest marathon in the world,’’ he told WSB-TV Atlanta. She also said yes.

Overall, not a bad day for love.
