The Social Network of Skiing

My teenage daughter begged me not to join facebook. She feared I’d be facebook stalking her, checking up on her friends and profile status. I assured her I have a life – and its skiing.

On facebook, and twitter too, you can be privy to ski resorts’ last-minute deals as a friend or fan, and you get the real skinny on ski conditions from fellow skiers’ posts.

Okemo

was the first, to my knowledge, to announce Facebook Friday – skiing for just $15 back in December. This week Okemo is back with another deal –  you can get Thursday night’s lodging and Friday lift ticket for $99 per person when you get four friends together to share a condo. That’s worth being a fan. Sunday River is offering a Facebook Fan Day with $39 lift tickets this Friday, you must preregister but that’s a pretty awesome deal.

I am sure there will be more social networking ski deals and sweet tweets as more resorts get onboard and online.  This new media, while admittedly time consuming, could be money saving if you tap into ski discounts like these. So befriend your favorite ski resorts and subscribe to their tweets – I think you will find it worthwhile.

Ok, I’ll admit I did check out my daughter’s Facebook, and I am proud to report she was posting about skiing. That’s my girl.
