Great news, skiers: No more slippery commutes to the slopes or pricey lift tickets. Skiing just got easier, far more convenient, and cheaper. All you need is the internet to access Attitash trails from the comfort of your couch or office chair.
Thanks to helmet cam technology, you can now view 47 of the Bartlett, N.H. ski area’s trails online. With a click of the mouse, you can ski Tightline, Tim’s Trauma, and Turkey Shoot, to name just a few, with no time waiting in lift lines.
This technology is actually designed so you can decide whether a ski resort or specific trail is right for you instead of relying upon a static trail map or photographs according to Doug Tulin, Attitash’s director of marketing.
So go ski online at http://attitash.com/video_trailmap.html and tease yourself with a trip down Attitash’s trails. While I think you will find it?s not actually better than the real thing, it’s a coy marketing promo to make you want to go. Fair warning, however: While there is no fear of frostbite with virtual skiing, there is also minimal calorie burning for those of us that enjoy guilt-free carbo loading and calorie laden beverage for après ski.
