How many of you have had a romantic encounter while traveling? You are not alone. But have you divulged the sordid details? These folks did.
When hostelbookers.com asked more than 11,000 travelers to spill their juiciest travel sex secrets, the confessions poured in. Discover the unusual places where people have had sex on vacation, which nationalities travelers lust after most, how they are experimenting sexually, and more. You may need a cold shower after this one!
Hottest hook up spots
Public toilets, swimming pools, and parks, along with hostel common areas, the sea, and buses, cars and trains all topped the list of places where travelers hook up most on vacation. Other notable mentions? Churches, festivals, balconies, clubs, restaurants, museums, planes, boats, and gardens. And, um, a ski slope? That’s impressive, considering all the clothes involved.
Who uses protection?
If you want to have safe sex, sleep with an Italian, Greek, Bulgarian, Portuguese, or Brazilian. That’s because travelers from these nationalities said they always use protection. As for the Chinese, Indonesian, Turkish, Hungarian, and Malaysians, sleep with them at your own risk — they said they don’t use protection (Boo!).
Women lust after the Irish
When asked which nationality women lust after most, 79 percent chose Irish (after that it was Brits, Italians, and Canadians). Not convinced? According to this huffingtonpost.com piece, “5 Reasons to Love Irish Men,’’ Irish men are appealing because they don’t ask deep, introspective questions upon meeting, they want to make their mothers happy, they downplay a rainy day, the most macho among them say the word “lovely’’ with some frequency, and they try to cheer you up. Oh, and some of them look like Colin Farrell. That probably doesn’t hurt.

Men lust after Russians
Men long to hook up with Russians while on vacation. At least, 84 percent of them do. Next, they seek Polish, Colombian, Swedish, and Brazilian love interests. According to masterrussian.com, a website about Russian language and culture, Russian women are charming and beautiful, take good care of themselves, make family a priority, and have pride and modesty.

Germans are hard to get
Good luck hooking up with a German, according to the travelers surveyed by hostelbookers.com. Fourteen percent said Germans are hardest to woo. After that, they said Brits and the French are hard to get with. So what’s up with Germans being hard to romance? Some blog posts about German traits list stubborn, argumentative, and cold. We wonder if German model Heidi Klum would agree with this?

Are you more sexually adventurous when you travel? Many of the travelers surveyed said yes.
According to the survey, 43 percent had sex with more than one person during the same trip (9 percent admitted to having sex with five or more people) and 17 percent participated in a threesome. Furthermore, 69 percent of travelers have had sex with a local, 17 percent brought sex toys on vacation, and 13 percent had sex opposite from their orientation.
One night stands
If you’ve ever had a one night stand on vacation, you are certainly not alone. It turns out 41 percent of women and 52 percent of men on vacation have done the deed.
Since so many of you are doing it, we offer you this handy guide, “7 tips for having a great one-night stand’’ posted this summer on salon.com.
Most unfaithful nations
Folks, if you are dating one of these nationalities, stay on your toes. That’s because 31 percent of Brazilians, 30 percent of French, and 28 percent of Bulgarians have admitted to cheating on their significant other while traveling. And, overall, 16 percent of travelers of all nationalities admit to cheating on vacation. We hope your relationship survived the last trip. But in case things got dicey, here’s a link to the Relationship Counseling Center in Boston.
Travel also leads to broken hearts. Seventeen percent of travelers have broken up with their significant other while traveling (we can’t help but think of the arguing couples on “The Amazing Race’’), 37 percent broke up before the trip even happened, and 46 percent broke up after returning from a trip. And 48 percent of travelers broke up over travel.
For those who think it’s impossible to find love on vacation, keep this in mind: 1 in 5 travel flings turn into relationships. So dust off your passport and book that trip!
