Pop star and Dorchester native Donna Summer has died after a battle with cancer, according to her family, the Associated Press reports. The singer, who was peerless as the Queen of Disco, was a five-time Grammy winner with hits like “Hot Stuff,” “Last Dance,” and “Bad Girls.” Summer was 63.

Although she made her name in the 1970s, specifically her disco work with producer Giorgio Moroder, Summer continued to top the charts in the ’80s with anthems such as “She Works Hard for the Money.”
