Pa and his “Little House on the Prairie” family might soon be back if Sony Pictures gets its petticoats in order. Deadline is reporting that David Gordon Green is in talks to direct a movie based on the TV series that ran from 1974-83. The film will be based on the Laura Ingalls Wilder books and the show, which were set on a western farm in the late 1800s.

We have so many questions: Remember Michael Landon’s hair? Couldn’t Matt Damon grow his out and make a perfect Pa? After all, he bought a zoo, so why not a farm? Will Melissa Gilbert show up and teach the folks how to dance in time for the Saturday social? Will the Waltons show up to say good night? Did they have cell phones in the 19th century? Will Laura really go to Boston?

In case you’ve forgotten what made us fall in love with the show, goldarnit, and TV’s Laura Ingalls (aka “half-pint”), it was dialogue like this:

Nellie Oleson: Half the time, you don’t even SMELL like a girl! You’re either sweaty, or you stink of fish!

Laura: Well... I sweat a lot and I fish a lot!
