The conductor and composer Nicholas White has been named music director of the Boston Cecilia. A resident of Concord, NH, where he is Director of Chapel Music and Organist at St. Paul’s School, White succeeds Donald Teeters, who concluded his 44-year tenure with the chorus at the end of last season.

Born in London, White moved to this country in 1989 and has been active as an organist, choir conductor, singer, composer, and educator. His March performance with Boston Cecilia featured British music drawn from over five centuries, and concluded with his own work, “From Earth to Heaven (Six Middle English Lyrics).” In announcing the news by email, Cecilia co-presidents Elizabeth Riely and John Whitlock said that more information on the chorus’s 2013-14 season will be posted soon.
