Cherimoya smoothie

With the addition of rum, vodka, or gin, this pale green smoothie, with its distinct cherimoya taste, can be turned into an unusual cocktail.

1 small cherimoya (about 1/2 pound), chilled

1 kiwi

1 cup pineapple juice

1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar or to taste

Pinch of ground nutmeg

Cut the cherimoya into halves or quarters, remove the skin, and cut the flesh into chunks, removing the seeds. Place the fruit in a blender. Peel and cut up the kiwi and add to the blender. Add the pineapple juice and sugar, and blend until smooth. Taste and add more sugar if necessary. If the drink is too thick, add crushed ice or water. Pour into 2 glasses and dust with ground nutmeg.

Makes 2 drinks, about 3/4 cup each.
