Capsule review:
In the chain-restaurant heaven known as Route 1, this offspring of the Cambridge restaurant is a step up. Predictable but satisfying Tex-Mex and good Cajun dishes (try the crawfish etouffee) make up the menu. Best of all are the free warm, salty tortilla chips, and tangy salsa. Weekend nights get crowded.

The food is excellent. I wish I could say the same for the host who wouldn't seat me because I was only one person. He rudely told me that I had to sit at the bar or leave. Needless to say, I am not happy with the help or at least one of the help.

The food is great, it's cheap, and if you're not going on Friday or Saturday night, it's not too bad of a wait.
The part that makes this place extraordinary is this: I am allergic to gluten. When I asked them about the menu items, they were quick to find the information I needed, and they really made sure to take care of me. I appreciated that, since too many times waitstaff makes me feel like I am imposing on them for asking them to find out ingredients for me.
Thanks, Border Cafe. You guys rock.
