Boston Globe Review ( explain this rating )
Faithful follow 'cue's call to Revere     by Denise Taylor - October 05, 2005
Capsule review: Leave your belt at home before settling into this two-time winner of the East Coast Grill's BBQ Invitational. Uncle Pete's sauces (tangy mild or habanero hot) add savor to a seriously succulent selection of slow-smoked meats. Save room for the crispy fries, surprising Asian slaw, and takeout ice cream. This homey joint is downright habit-forming.

i have recently become addicted to uncle petes!!!! i dream of the mashed potatoes they are the best i have ever had. the baked beans and cole slaw are just as they should be, a perfect accompaniment to perfectly smoked and melt in your mouth bbq. the onion rings are fried to perfection and if you get them to go, the knowledgeable staff takes the time to vent the container for you so they wont go soggy, i personally feel that attention to detail speaks volumes. the staff is soooo friendly and even uncle pete himself is there to navigate you through his extensive but not overwhelming menu. you can tell he takes pride in what he does and wants you to share in his love of bbq. i have been telling anyone who will listen about this place and that includes you, go you wont regret it!!!!! the last person i sent couldnt stop raving about the chicken wings. just make sure your hungry the portions are nothing to mess with.....

Ribs are okay. Most of the sides were poor. I got the country fried chicken and it came out burnt and they served it anyway. I won't go back.

Went to petes tonight and was not impressed. Aside from the ribs everything else was pretty disgusting. The pulled pork, pulled chicken, and beef brisket all had the same sickening sweet sauce. After 3-5 bites you can feel your stomach start to churn. The sides ranged from mediocre to bad, excluding the cornbread which was good. The ribs were decent, nothing to brag about.
