Let’s face it. Boston’s been looking for some ‘hot stuff’ for a while, and an online group thinks it knows what it’s going to take to bring it.
A Facebook campaign has launched urging the city to build a statue of the iconic singer and Boston native Donna Summer.
Boston houses many monuments of iconic figures, including Paul Revere and Edgar Allan Poe. So why not show some love for the five-time Grammy winner and disco queen?
According to the Facebook group, Summer is “the pride of Dorchester and one Boston’s greatest entertainers. It’s time a statue in the city recognizes her amazing achievements.”
The idea may not be far-fetched, The Boston Herald reports. Mayor Marty Walsh dropped a Donna Summer record at Together last week as its ceremonial “first beat,” indicating Summer isn’t far from our minds.
