Bill Clinton Honored at City Year 25th Anniversary Celebration

President Bill Clinton was honored at City Year’s 25th anniversary celebration at Symphony Hall on Thursday with a City Year Legacy Award for his years of involvement with the service organization, as well as playing a pivotal role in starting City Year South Africa.

“Mr. President, the day you came to City Year changed everything,” said Jonathan Lavine, Chair of the Board of Trustees for City Year, who presented President Clinton with the award. “We are honored and inspired by your tremendous support and leadership.”

After accepting the honor, the former president gave a speech highlighting the importance of the organization.

“You need 25 more years of this for a very special reason,” President Clinton said. “We live in a highly interdependent world…therefore the defining debate of the next 30 years will be to define our interdependence.”

The event also featured a performance by the Boston Pops and singer Judith Hill.
