Hundreds of nude photos of celebrities allegedly leaked online Sunday, raising a larger question of whether Apple’s storage server iCloud is secure.
Nude and explicit photos and videos of more than 100 mostly female celebrities—including Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst and Kate Upton—were posted on the online bulletin board 4chan Sunday, claiming to be personal images hacked from various phones after an iCloud security leak.
While its unclear how the photos were obtained, representatives for some celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence have confirmed that the leaked photos are of her. Lawrence’s rep told the Hollywood Reporter the incident is “a flagrant violation of privacy.”
However, celebrities are not the only people subject to hacking. An apparent software glitch along with weak passwords are reportedly allowing hackers to gain full access to an iCloud account.
