A “Goonies” sequel couldn’t be successful without at least part of the original cast.

Thankfully we don’t have to imagine a world like that, because Corey Feldman and Sean Astin are reportedly onboard with the follow-up to the 1985 pirate-adventure classic, according to E! News.

The network caught up with Astin at ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas where he was promoting his new FX series, “The Strain,” and asked him what he thought of Richard Donner’s proposal to create a sequel.

“My first thought when Dick said he was doing that was like, ‘Alright, maybe this time it’s true!’ I hope it’s true,” Astin told E!. “I certainly like the idea of doing it. I don’t know if I’d be in it or not. If they really wanted us to be in it, I’m sure there would be some way to work it out.”

He later added that he and Feldman are “buddies” and that the actor, who played Mouth in the original film, is “ready to go.”

“The Goonies” director Richard Donner first announced that he was planning a sequel during a TMZ interview in early April.
