Local authors Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias’ novel, “The Finest Hours,” is getting the big screen treatment, and word on the Internet is that Cambridge’s Casey Affleck is set to join in on the fun.

If the report is true, Affleck would star alongside “Star Trek” actor Chris Pine in the Craig Gillespie-directed film, according to Deadline.

The movie is set to begin filming locally in September, according to Sherman, with set locations at the Fore River shipyard in Quincy and in Chatham.
