WCVB Welcomes Emily Riemer Back to News Desk

WCVB will soon welcome Emily Riemer back to its news desk.

On June 2nd, the seasoned reporter who previously worked at Channel 5 as a weekend morning news anchor, will take over for Bianca de la Garza during the morning EyeOpener and will join the NewsCenter 5 at Noon newscasts.

Riemer will co-anchor the EyeOpener with Randy Price and will share the anchor duties with Erika Tarantal for the noon broadcast.

Before her official start date, Riemer sat down with Barbara Walters for a one-on-one interview where Walters opened up about her childhood in Boston, her legendary journalism career, and her legacy at ABC News. You can watch the interview tomorrow night, May 16, at 11 p.m. on Channel 5.

WCVB’s president and general manager, Bill Fine, said he is excited to have Riemer back on staff.

“We will benefit greatly from having her talents once again presented on our air,” Fine said.

Riemer, an Andover native, started at WCVB-TV in 2011 after working as a political and news reporter in Columbus, Ohio. She has a Bachelor’s from Ithaca College and a Master’s from Leeds University.
