Here’s the scoop: Free Cone Day returns April 8

Unless you’re totally heartless — or extremely lactose intolerant — here’s some news that should bring a smile to your face: Ben & Jerry’s will host their annual Free Cone Day tomorrow, April 8, from noon-8 p.m. B&J locations will scoop free cones to celebrate the day of their first anniversary in 1979, when they started the tradition at their original location in Burlington, VT.

Zero purchase is necessary — keyword: free — but from our experience, we’ll warn you that you should expect to wait in line. Do everyone a little favor, make the process move faster, and check out the menu beforehand.

Need some help? Here’s a refresher of what we would order:

Cotton Candy: A new one for Spring ‘14, described as “cotton candy ice cream loaded with cotton candy pieces.” Sounds like a sugar rush, also possibly terrible, but we’re willing to give it a shot.

Salted Caramel Blondie: Another newbie for the season that should satisfy anyone who has resisted buying the Salted Caramel Core pint at their local grocer. Good for you! Now eat this.

Everything But The... : Indulge, why don’t you? Packed with “a collision of chocolate and vanilla ice creams mixed with peanut butter cups, Heath bar chunks, white chocolatey chunks, and fudge-covered almonds,” this flavor makes sure you really get your free-worth.
