Failing to record the race

Although police in Massachusetts generally record the race of drivers on traffic tickets, as required by the state's law monitoring police for racial profiling, some departments show higher rates of noncompliance. The typical department failed to record the race in 1.5 percent of tickets. Police departments are ranked here by the failure rate.
