Q. I took a ride down a 40-foot aluminum ladder, which lost one of its hooks when the ladder fell. Where can I get a replacement hook?

R.M., Medford

A. Try Lynn Ladder and Scaffolding Co. in West Lynn. What you call a hook, Lynn Ladder calls a guide iron or guide bracket. Lynn Ladder's catalog says that replacement parts are designed to fit ladders sold or manufactured by Lynn Ladder only. The company also says, ``We recommend all broken of damaged ladders be returned to the factory for repair.''
