Q. I am trying to build some map racks, using shade rollers to roll the maps on. Trouble is, I cannot find roller shades without the shades, or even the hardware for such rollers so I could build my own. Any ideas? The rollers will be a maximum of 55 inches long. I thought of buying cheap rollers, taking off the shade part and putting on the maps, but the cheap shades are no longer cheap.

A. You may have to go with the cheap shades, because I can't find a source for the hardware.

In the meantime, the handyman issues one of his pleas to the people ``out there'': Does anyone know where to get the hardware for roller shades, and/or blank rollers; that is, rollers without the shades? The handyman also does not want to be a broker to people who might have rollers to offer.
