More than 6 million people have signed up for health coverage under the Affordable Care Act, the White House announced Thursday.
President Obama announced the record number of enrollees while on a conference call with thousands of employees and volunteers working to help get Americans covered, the Washington Post reported.
Health insurance enrollment for the national program, which began October 2013, was off to a slow start due in part to enrollment website glitches. There are four days left until the first open enrollment deadline, but the administration announced it would extend the March 31 deadline to mid-April for those who had previously tried to sign up but couldn’t.
