The official phone call came on August 17 delivering the news that Lahey received Magnet status in recognition of excellence in nursing care, the culmination of six years of rigorous preparation and self-evaluation. The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes health care organizations worldwide that are dedicated to nursing excellence, professionalism and patient-focused care. Lahey is one of only six hospitals in Massachusetts to earn the Magnet designation.

The Magnet program focuses on promoting quality in a setting that supports professional practice, identifying excellence in the delivery of nursing services to patients, and disseminating best practices in nursing services.

Lahey Clinic, a physician-led, nonprofit group practice, is world-renowned for innovative technology, pioneering medical treatment, and leading-edge research. A teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, the Clinic provides quality health care in virtually every specialty and subspecialty.
