Our people
Millennium employs more than 1,000 people including its headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts and field-based representatives. Our work is more than a job. We are entrepreneurial and driven by our passion for people and progress. Our scientists work to discover and develop novel targets and pathways to bring the best therapies through to clinical development and patients worldwide.
Some of the world's finest thought leaders in protein homeostasis, medicinal chemistry, biology and the clinical sciences are counted among our employees. Our scientists have been published in the industry's leading scientific journals; sit on editorial boards/boards of directors and speak at international symposia. There is no limit to what our employees can and have accomplished.
In addition to serving patients Millennium is actively involved in giving back to our local community. We contribute to local business, social and environmental causes through our Millennium Makes a Difference (MMAD) program. MMAD is the employee-run, philanthropic arm of the Company, offering volunteer and support opportunities throughout the Cambridge community. Some of the programs sponsored include blood drives, cell phone donation, and our annual Community Service Day, where employees volunteer together at service sites around Boston and Cambridge.
Our science
At Millennium, we know that advancing cancer treatment is no small task and to do our part in combating this disease, we strive to discover and develop therapies that meet a critical need utilizing an unprecedented approach.
Millennium is recognized as the leader in protein homeostasis, a research area of Nobel Prize-winning science. There are a variety of disease states, notably cancer, in which the homeostatic balance of cellular proteins can be altered permanently, threatening survival of the host.
Our scientific expertise is complimented by determination to bring the best cancer treatments through the clinic toward commercialization. It drives us to follow stringent protocol on everything from the design of a trial to filing a new drug application with the Food & Drug Administration.
Our opportunities
Millennium is proud of having a record-setting year with over-achieving our ambitious goals. The Company has seen continual growth over the past several years, and in 2008 achieved record-breaking sales of more than $1 billion for our flagship drug VELCADE® (bortezomib) for Injection for the treatment of multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, and mantle cell lymphoma. Since initial approval in 2003, VELCADE has helped more than 100,000 patients in 87 countries worldwide.
We foster scientific innovation and passion in a collaborative way, with an employee-centric focus on learning and development opportunities. Millennium is currently hiring talented people to help drive forward our expanded oncology pipeline with a variety of positions from drug discovery through clinical development and commercialization.
