Welcome to The Job Blog!

BostonWorks's tagline is "The jobs you want. And how to get them." We have ~15,000 jobs from over 2,000 unique employers on the site right now; this helps with the first half of that promise, knowing jobs exist out there despite this dreadful economy. To deliver on the second half, we try to provide lots of useful, highly reliable information.

In The Boston Globe each Sunday, we publish several original articles focussing on the employment, career management, and recruiting issues facing our readers. I'm very proud of our original content, but there's a limit to what we can research, write, edit, and publish on our own. That's why we're starting this Job Blog: to take advantage of the fact that beyond Morrissey Boulevard lies a great big web of that useful and reliable information.

My vision for this blog is to provide links to that information and, I hope, to help people find jobs.

Doug Eisenhart, our online editor, and I will be updating this blog regularly. Once we get our bearings, I will probably open it up to contributions from the field. In the meantime, if you have suggestions for web items we should link, please drop me a line.

Many thanks to Robert Scoble for helping me with a few ideas. This will be an interesting experiment -- I'm excited to see how it goes.
