Industry snapshot: Building and design jobs

"Going Green" is no longer just politically correct, it's rapidly and widely becoming accepted as correct in business and the way to go for the future. The shift toward green technologies and products is creating a host of new job opportunities and reenergizing many old standby careers. Architects, entrepreneurs, managers, landscapers — these fields and others need creative, hard-working people.

In Massachusetts, job seekers are lucky that the impact of an economic downturn on design and building industries is tempered by a large public sector, as healthcare and higher education continue to grow and build. Even business closures and downsizing can mean work for architects and interior designers as corporate offices and restaurants need to redesign for new tenants or smaller spaces.
