Many people believe in the myth of the "summer slowdown," or the time during the warmer months when companies cut back or stop hiring. However, Patty Coffey, partner in the information technology division of Winter, Wyman, a Waltham-based staffing firm, disagrees. "Companies are filling positions at the same, if not an increased, pace during the hottest months of the year," she said.
