On February 14, BostonWorks announced that its parent company, The New York Times Company, and Monster.com have formed a strategic alliance, combining the Times Company's market-leading news and local websites with Monster's online recruitment services.
In Boston, the alliance will create the online recruitment leader, with Monster joining BostonWorks.com, whose targeted career-focused editorial from Boston Globe writers and local browse search capabilities have made it a well-respected leader in the local recruitment space.
With this partnership, job seekers will be able to take advantage of Monster's world-class technology that includes advanced search and matching, enabling them to identify both local and national opportunities. Among other advanced Monster features, users will have the ability to easily expand their searches using the new "More Jobs Like This" feature, or fine-tune searches based on criteria such as salary range, years of experience, or the distance of jobs from a targeted ZIP code.

Why did Boston.com partner with Monster?
The Boston Globe and Boston.com's local presence combined with Monster's world-class technology will create the strongest local job board Boston has ever seen. Boston area job seekers will benefit enormously, getting the beset of both worlds; the local presence of Boston.com and market awareness and Monster's technology, tools, and reach.
What happened to BostonWorks?
With the partnership with Monster, the new name of the co-branded site is Boston.com/Monster. The site is more powerful than ever before, with all the tools and benefits of BostonWorks combined with the reach and technology of Monster.
What about the print section in The Boston Sunday Globe?
The print section will continue to be published as usual. However, it will now be titled Boston Globe Careers. The section will continue to feature all of the local employment news it is known for. The Boston.com/Monster site will continue to feature some of these stories online.
When can we expect to see the new site?
The new co-branded site will launch May 7, 2007.
Where do I go to login to my account?
The new website address will be boston.com/monster.
What will happen to my account information?
All of your account information will move over to the new site. Your five most recent resumes and cover letters will also move over to the new site.
Am I now a jobseeker with Monster or with Boston.com?
You are still considered a Boston.com jobseeker. However, you now have access to more job listings and more local employers will have access to your resume. You should still log on through Boston.com by visiting www.boston.com/monster.
Will employers be able to access my resume right away?
To protect your privacy, your account is currently not active or searchable. We encourage you to make your resume public. To do so, go to boston.com/monster, log in to your account, click on the resume tab and identify one resume as "public" by clicking on the status link.
Posting your resume publicly on boston.com/monster is the fastest and safest way to highlight your accomplishments and land the perfect job.![]()
