Genzyme will buy its cancer drug partner
As part of its push to become a bigger player in cancer drugs, Genzyme Corp. of Cambridge says it will buy out Bioenvision Inc. of New York for $345 million. (Boston Globe, 05/30/07)

Growth of generics slows drug spending
Growing use of generic drugs instead of the more expensive brand name medications they mimic kept the growth rate in US spending for prescription drugs to 2.8 percent in 2006, according to a recent report. (Bloomberg News, 05/18/07)

Despite losses, drug firm sees bright future
With several cancer drugs in the pipeline, ArQule Inc. is optimistic about the future. Until those drugs are approved for use, however, the Woburn-based biotech company expects losses to continue. (Boston Globe, 05/17/07)

Genzyme gets OK to resume testing of MS drug
The Food and Drug Administration will allow Genzyme Corp. to continue human tests of a new multiple sclerosis drug that caused a fatal bleeding disease in one trial patient, the company said yesterday. (Boston Globe, 05/17/07)
