After searching for jobs in the Boston area on Boston.com, Katheryn applied for this position online. Thinking her resume would be just one of many in a sea of applicants, she was thrilled when she was called for an interview so soon after sending her application to Brigham & Women's through Boston.com.

A graduate of Smith College, Katheryn had been working for a smaller hospital in Western MA in hospital administration for 2 years. "I had been looking for a job in Boston since January and was offered and accepted this position on April 27," said Katheryn. "The Practice Coordinator Position was a tremendous opportunity for me to continue to grow in hospital administration. I was excited about the increased responsibility as well as the focus on how to grow and expand a physician's practice.

As the Practice Coordinator, Katheryn oversees the day to day operations of the Interventional Cardiology Administrative Office. Her role is to ensure that anyone contacting Brigham and Women's Cardiac Catheterization lab receives the highest level of customer service possible. She works closely with the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization lab on clinical outreach, marketing and research work. The position includes triaging urgent calls, processing prescription refills, sending out follow-up letters and reports and in addition to building positive relationships with referring doctors and patients throughout the region. She also works closely with the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization lab to support and develop educational programs.

"I am thrilled to be working for such a remarkable health care institution that is committed to the highest level of patient care," says Katheryn. "When I walk into work every day, I see a quotation in the rotunda that reads, 'Service is the rent we pay for living on this planet.' I believe this statement wholeheartedly and am proud to be contributing to service excellence at Brigham and Women's Hospital."

Katheryn will continue to pursue her career goals in Hospital Administration, working towards Executive Leadership level within a health care setting.

"I frequently tell friends and family members looking for a job that Boston.com is an amazing resource." says Katheryn.

"I used much of the information in The Boston Globe's Careers section, including tidbits on how to search for jobs and other professional topics. I especially appreciated that I could look for jobs by industry as it allowed me to narrow down the kind of position I was looking for and learn about the kind of job I wanted to find."
