What my job is...

Thomas currently works with legislative staffers on Veterans Affairs and Foreign Policy issues. His responsibilities are primarily focused on the Senator's correspondence with Massachusetts constituents on veterans' and military issues. Given his veteran status, he is uniquely positioned to understand the situations being faced by other veterans. Chris Wyman, his manager at the Senate office, says of Thomas. "He is doing well and this position has been helpful in re-integrating Thomas back into the workforce."

How I found my job...

Thomas found his job through Salute Our Heroes, a New York Times and BostonWorks Veterans Job Fair held on June 13 at Fenway Park in Boston. Thomas was at the job fair to help staff the Department of Veterans Services booth. He also used used the opportunity to search for a job, having recently returned from active duty.

Barbara Thompson, Executive Director of the National Council of State Housing Agencies, introduced Thomas to Chris Wyman who had been invited to speak at the event on behalf of Senator John F. Kerry. After speaking with him, Chris offered Thomas an internship position at the Senator's Boston office.
