Harmonix has adopted a fresh take to snacking - workers haul in fruit every Tuesday.
ON TOP OF the Yoo-Hoo,
Once a week, a group of employees pulls a red wagon down the street to Whole Foods and buys $300 worth of fruit: pineapples, cantaloupes, honeydew melons, raspberries, mangoes, blueberries, clementines, watermelons - whatever’s available. Then they haul it back, chop it up, and the office manager announces, “Fruity Fruity, yo,’’ over the loudspeaker to summon the 320 employees to the open space dubbed the Freq Pit.
The company used to keep a closet full of junk food, said human resources administrator Janet Freed, but it decided to start offering fruit when the art director looked around and said, “You know, everyone’s getting really fat.’’![]()
