New York-based Altuzarra was announced as Target’s next fashion collaboration this morning. Designer Joseph Altuzarra will create a nearly 50-piece fall capsule collection for the store, featuring apparel, lingerie, footwear, and accessories, all retailing under $100.
In a statement issued by Target, Altuzarra said, “As a designer, I believe firmly in the transformative power of fashion. It has the ability to not only change how you look, but also how you feel. I’ve admired the elegance that Target brings to fast fashion. By working together on this capsule collection, we hope to instill a sense of power, confidence and beauty in women everywhere.”
Not too many details are available on the collection’s aesthetic, but if the Swarthmore grad’s past designs are any indication of what to expect, we suspect it will ooze lady-friendly sex appeal — for both the boardroom and the bedroom, if you know what we’re saying. The Parisian-bred designer most recently dressed Nicole Kidman for the “Grace of Monaco” photocall in Cannes and Michelle Monaghan and Lea Michele at the Met Ball.
One sketch of a floor-grazing gown deemed the “Project Dream Maxi Swiss Dot” was released, as was the accompanying promotional video featuring a woman in a short black robe and lace eye mask strutting to the window in point-toe boots like nobody’s business. It appears, as the release outlines, “a mix of iconic Altuzarra silhouettes with designs created specifically for Target,” and that just thrills us.
