They'll bowl you over

Globe Staff / November 12, 2007

Kimberley Spencer makes fuzzy little knit bowls that are perfect for jewelry or keys (we prefer them empty as decorative pieces). The Newton artist's vessels are made out of wool or alpaca in one to three colors, hardened by a process called felting, and adorned with silk ribbon, buttons, feathers, and charms ($45-$59). These cuties and other handcrafted items are available through Dec. 24 at Sign of the Dove, a crafts cooperative owned and operated by artists. You can see the work of more than 60 talented folks today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the opening reception is Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Sign of the Dove, 1971 Massachusetts Ave., Porter Square, Cambridge, 617-491-3505. signofthedoveco-op.com
