My son and his family visited us Columbus Day weekend. Because of the holiday, the garbage collectors were picking up two days of trash on the same day. When we heard the truck, we took my grandson to see it, since he loves trucks. As it approached, the driver beeped the horn gently a few times. The baby grinned and replied, “Beep, beep.” He watched in fascination as the workmen ran from barrel to barrel. As they left our house, the guys on the truck waved, and my grandson waved back. Before turning the corner, the driver again beeped and the guys waved madly. Wow, did they make my grandson’s day! We couldn’t believe that on this double-shift day, they’d take the time to thrill a 20-month-old.

Passed the Test When my daughter Danielle was in elementary school, she had her ears and eyes checked at school. When I asked her how it went, she replied, “The nurse said I am good-hearing and good-looking.”
