After a recent snowstorm, an enterprising kid asked if I thought anyone in my condo’s parking lot would pay him $10 to shovel out his or her car. He started asking about specific cars. “No, she likes to shovel herself out,” I said. “No, she’s not home.” He pointed to yet another car, and I told him, “Probably not. He takes the T.” The boy was shocked: “Why would anyone take the T when they have a car?”
