HOW IT WORKS: Without going to the bank, users can deposit checks by taking a picture of the check with a digital camera and uploading it to their computer, or taking a picture with an iPhone and using an ING DIRECT app to deposit the check directly to their account.

HOW IT WORKS: It’s a virtual piggy bank and “social banking’’ platform. Users set savings goals, and can tell friends how they are doing via Twitter and Facebook.

HOW IT WORKS: It’s an online budgeting tool that lets users establish personal goals, pulls together their financial information, and lets them track it on the go using mobile apps.

NAME: Foursquare

HOW IT WORKS: The mobile platform offers coupons or discounts to users when they “check in’’ at or near a store, and lets them share their location with friends.
