  1. Hey Olive Oyl, Next Time You Need The Police Call Your Guinea Pig!

  1. I can't quite make out what the writing on the shirt says. Knowing my daughter, I doubt that it would have passed the editor if it were readible.

  1. Amen to Officer Friendly. Shame on this ring-nosed twirp for such a blatantly disreseptful display. And double shame on the Globe for publishing it, as well as having a staffer with such little discriminating ability or taste. I am an absolute First Amendment advocate in all respects, but that doesn't mean the media should promote disrespect for public servants who place their lives on the line everyday, while earning a fraction of those in and behind the great American greed industries. That said, I'm sure Olive Oyl's attorney would argue her shirt affirmatively says "Cops are NOT pigs." True enough, but saying "Pigs are just more civil" implies cops are lower than pigs. She probably think Orwell's "Animal Farm" is a story about the intelligence of pigs.

  1. "I am an absolute First Amendment advocate in all respects..."

Apparently not as much as you think, sir.

  1. "A continual conversation with Boston.." Last time I checked Cambridge is not in Boston. Her shirt is the norm for the Left Side of the River ( thank God for the Charles!!)
To Newell , wow you did a great job bringing up your daughter to respect those who protect her and her smarmy shirt.

  1. Oh my! She's so avant garde! She just transcends morals and ethics! She doesn't own an iron! She does look a bit like Olive Oyl but then what can you do? Poised against her brilliant, forward, out of the box thought it is such a small matter! She has explored the depths of all our souls with her rapier like wit.
Oh, wait-no, I guess I was reading someone else. In fact she's a spoiled silly little twit with no vision and no respect for anyone's opinion but her own.
Get a life you ridiculous sophomoric child. Oh, and grow up.

  1. The protections of the first amendment only matter when what they are saying pisses you off. Otherwise, it's not an issue.

    *HOWEVER*

If *she* has a fist amendment right to act like an idgit, *I* have a first amendment right to call her one.

    And that's how it works.

  1. Aren't you just so counter-culture and revolutionary? What a great job of fighting the power you are doing! The police are bad, bad people Clara. You are so wise! For instance, remember all of those less-than-swines that died at the World Trade Center in 2001 trying to save people? Or the Boston cop who left behind eight children when he was killed by Barack Obama's friend Bill Ayer's Weather Underground? They all must have deserved to die, because, after all, oh sage Clara, they were less than pigs anyway. They aren't civil, educated. enlightened heroes like you Clara.

Enjoy life in your white bread world, Clara. You'll never need a cop, right?

  1. And who is she going to call? Looks like she is getting indoctrinated by the local liberal establishment efficiently. I wonder whose idea this really was, one of her liberal "I'm still smoking my dope" higher education groupies? Since this is generally the case these days, most educators are products of the 60's & 70's give peace a chance, free love, blah blah blah crap she probably doesn't have a clue how to think for herself. Oh, and the Globe groupies are so enthralled, they are just trying to relive the somewhat useless 60's and 70's.

    What LOSERS!

  1. I think we can all accept stupidity from children. What is worrisome is her Father's posting. He obviously is bringing her up well......NOT.

  1. The assertions and assumptions made by the people posting on this board characterize just about all of the (random and unfounded) criticisms and insults that they lofted at this young woman. The only people listed on this page that are childish, immature, sophomoric, idiotic, or trying to silence people's voices are the dumb asses and cops who apparently have nothing better to do that insult a girl for having her picture taken. Aren't people allowed opinions? The stupidity of lame internet trolls is sickening, Get a life. Your computers are rotting your brains. Try reading a book or go outside, but if you cant find a better use of your time then you live a pretty sad existence.

  1. Clara, I will help you out… If you want I will redirect my subscription to the Boston Globe, you can line your cute little guinea pigs cage with it. I hope that some day when your walking down the streets of Cambridge that you don’t get in a situation where you may need the services of the local authorities. I think it’s fantastic that you can walk around with a shirt like that and still get the same level of service… Imagine going to a country other than America and wearing that, hmmmm Maybe a country in the middle east. Anyhow I was watching a show on the Food network where this guy goes to different countries and tries the local cuisine, it was in Peru I think.. It was great… Guinea Pigs were on the menu. They would reach into the cage and you could hear the little guys squeal….

  1. I love poster 13. Berating everyone who doesn't like the message this girl is wearing. The poster attacks everyone for taking the time to post however they seem to have no problem with themselves doing the same thing? I guess there was a break in their book reading schedule. "Aren't people allowed opinions" was one quirp...yes Virgina and not everyone will agree with yours.... Life is long you better get used to it.

about on my mind What do you think? You have thoughts and opinions that matter to you or your community at large. It may be a large-scale political issue like the Iraq war or the environment. Or it may be more personal, like getting your first job, or the birth of a new baby. This is a weekly photo column that asks people in the Boston area what’s on their mind.
